Beginning with the evening of 9/11, I volunteered down at the Trade Center and over the course of the first week
shot these photos with my Nikon Coolpix. There was a horrific beauty that I tried to capture as well as the
sense of ordinary people being thrust into extraordinary circumstances. The first week there was a
wonderful feeling of togetherness, until things became more “official”. Still, it was amazing to participate in.
